Educational Objectives of the Undergraduate Program
Department of English Language and Literature, TED University

  1. To ensure that students gain a comprehensive understanding of the major literary texts, genres, and traditions of English literature within their historical, cultural, and social contexts.
  2. To enable students to analyze and interpret literary and cultural texts through interdisciplinary approaches and critical theories.
  3. To develop students’ ability to express complex ideas and arguments clearly, coherently, and effectively in written and spoken English.
  4. To foster students’ use of academic research methods in independent research conducted in accordance with ethical principles and proper citation practices.
  5. To promote students’ critical awareness of the historical, cultural, and social contexts in which literary texts are produced and received.
  6. To support students’ effective and responsible use of digital tools and information resources in research, communication, and presentation processes.
  7. To encourage students to apply transferable skills such as problem-solving, leadership, collaboration, and adaptability in academic and professional settings.
  8. To develop students’ basic communication skills in at least one foreign language other than English (French) and to support the application of these skills in daily and academic contexts.
  9. To encourage students to contribute to intellectual inquiry by producing original ideas through the use of critical theories and active engagement with academic discourse.
  10. To promote students’ use of communication and adaptability skills acquired through language and literature education in diverse professional and social contexts, with attention to inclusivity, ecological awareness, and social responsibility.
